SALARY RANGE: $50,000 - $70,000

JOB SUMMARY:
The Chief of Staff will serve as a strategic partner to the Senior Pastor and church leadership, ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the church. This role requires exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills. The Chief of Staff will oversee staff management, lead special projects, and coordinate across ministries to advance the church’s mission and vision. This will require a firm grasp of the vision, beliefs, values, and strategies of St. John Missionary Baptist Church and the ability to align staff and key leadership teams with its mission. The Chief of Staff will ensure that the church's structures, systems, practices, and policies responsibly and effectively support its vision and strategic direction.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership & Strategy:

Serve as a key advisor to the Senior Pastor on church operations, strategy, and organizational effectiveness.

Translate the church’s vision into actionable goals for staff and ministries.

Lead the execution of church-wide initiatives, managing projects from conception through completion.

Clearly articulate strategic goals and action plans
-
Oversee the annual strategic planning process, which includes evaluation of ministry performance, development of critical objectives/goals, and implementation of the church’s strategic priorities.

Monitoring the pulse of the congregation through research and evaluation.
-
Ensuring staffing, facilities, and programs are appropriately and effectively aligned to best meet strategic goals.

Coordinating and leading staff meetings in collaboration with the Senior Pastor

Fulfilling other administrative duties as requested by the Senior Pastor.
Staff Management & Development:
-
Coordinate hiring, training, and performance management processes for church personnel.

Oversee church staff, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.
-
Ensure staff alignment with the church’s values and mission.
-
Implementation of Staff evaluation and performance giving on-going feedback.

Oversee training and development.
Operational Oversight:
-
Manage the church's day-to-day operations
-
Manage, update, train, and distribute assignments on the church management software
-
Coordinate with the Finance Ministry of the church on the overall church budget, making budget recommendations
-
Coordinate with the Trustee Ministry to oversee the facility management, campus maintenance, upkeep, improvements, and enhancements
-
and administrative functions.

Develop and implement systems and processes that enhance organizational efficiency.

Work with ministry leaders to ensure smooth communication and collaboration between teams.

Ensuring the integrity of the church’s technology infrastructure to include Church Management Software and Solutions, Computer network, telecommunications, mass communication and digital platforms
Church Growth & Outreach:
-
Collaborate with ministry leaders to develop programs and initiatives that support church growth and community engagement.

Ensure that church events, worship services, and outreach efforts are aligned with strategic goals.

Giving direction to the marketing and public relations activities of the church (through staff and volunteers)

Reviewing communications guidelines and monitoring print and Web communications to ensure the message stays focused and consistent with Saint John Missionary Baptist Church’s vision and values.
Communications & Representation:

Act as a point of contact for external relationships, including vendors, partners, and community organizations.

Represent the church in public meetings and external events as needed.

Maintain clear internal communication among staff, leadership, and volunteers.

Operate with Integrity
Qualifications:
-
Master’s degree in Business Administration (preferred).
-
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, Ministry, or related field.
-
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a leadership or management role, preferably within a faith-based or nonprofit organization.

Strong commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the church.

Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage complex projects, and oversee daily operations.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Experience in financial management, budgeting, and human resources.

Highly organized, with the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively.

Strong spiritual foundation and active church involvement.
